January 21, 2020: Lucinda McCallum, PhD

The Episcopal Church Club of Philadelphia (ECCP) will hold its third luncheon of the season on Tuesday, January 21, 2020, at The Acorn Club, 1519 Locust Street, Philadelphia. Our guest will be Lucinda Rasmussen McCallum, PhD, a coordinator of the Interfaith Hospitality Network. The network is an important ministry to homeless families with children.

Lucinda McCallum grew up in a variety of cities across the U.S. and Japan as a Navy junior.  While a graduate student she also lived in France and Greece, first studying at the Université de Paris I, Sorbonne, then while working on her M.A. and PhD at the University of Pennsylvania;  her doctoral dissertation focused on Mycenaean Greek palace wall frescoes (PhD U. Penn 1987). While raising her children, Dr. McCallum was very involved in the Tredyffrin/Easttown PTO, where she especially enjoyed organizing several book fairs, and managing a publishing center.  While one son was serving in the military, she became a board member for the Blue Star Mothers of America, Philadelphia Chapter; she is currently a member of the Armed Services Council at the Union League of Philadelphia. An avid gardener, Dr. McCallum spent the past 11 years renovating the Inglis House gardens in Philadelphia (a residence for severely mobility-impaired).  Several years ago, she became a Coordinator for the Interfaith Hospitality Network, a shelter for homeless families. Dr. McCallum volunteers for this through St. David’s Episcopal Church, where she is also the official beekeeper.

The program will start with social hour at 12 noon, followed by the luncheon at 12:30 and then the presentation. The price for the luncheon is $35 per person. There will be a cash bar for those who wish wine or other refreshments, including non-alcoholic beverages. Discounted parking is available at Park America at Academy House, 251 S. 15th Street (valet garage); $10 flat rate with Acorn Club stamp.
